Let the Good Times Roll

This is the smile he gives when he's doing something he knows he not supposed to. In this case, he was playing with a PS3 cord.

Playing with bubbles. We're trying to teach James how to blow, but mostly they just pop them.

Andrew finally worked up the courage to go through the tunnel, but he's still not sure about it.

Bath time. James was filthy after crawling around on the deck. Bath time ended abruptly when Andrew decided to pee in the water :)

Andrew loves to pull pictures off the "cousin" photo shelf.

Reading some books together...love it!

A Great Weekend

We had a great weekend! (Unfortunately the camera didn't get used so there are no photos today.) It all started Thursday night with the premier of the final Harry Potter movie. I was able to go see a double feature that showed part 1 at 9pm and part 2 at midnight. It was definitely a late night, but the movie was awesome!

The next morning we got up bright and early to go boating with some friends (I got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep). It gets so hot so fast here that you really have to limit your outside time to early in the morning or later in the evening. After getting to the boat launch, though, plans changed because of a boat malfunction and a storm moving in. We ended up just visiting with our friends at their house, but it was still nice to visit and we're going to try boating another time. After lunch we all napped for awhile and then after dinner Dave headed out for his softball tournament.

Saturday morning Dave had more softball games and the boys and I went and watched him play. We couldn't have asked for better weather in July...it was in the 80s and overcast for most of the day. After Dave's team was out of the tournament (I think they were playing some professional softball teams!), Dave and I took the kids to the playground and watched another game. The area in between the fields was all cement sidewalks so James had a blast checking everything out in his walker.

Sunday was baby dedication day at church. Due to James' hospitalizations we've never been able to have the boys dedicated, so we had them both dedicated on Sunday. It was a nice service and the boys smelled good the rest of the day from the lavender oil the pastor used to anoint them. I will post a copy of the picture the church took when I get it. We went over to our pastor's house for lunch and spent the afternoon there visiting. (It was so nice of them to realize that we had no family around to celebrate with and take it upon themselves to be our surrogate family for the day.) After supper and a little playtime the boys went to bed early: tired from a fun-filled weekend.

And that was our great weekend! I promise to post pics again soon!!

Andrew celebrated his 9-month birthday on the Fourth of July. We just had his check-up today and he is healthy! Some facts about Andrew at this age:

  • Still has a small head; 17.5 inches (24%)

  • has mastered crawling and loves to chase after his brother

  • cruises along the couch like a pro

  • feeds himself puffs

  • still a bad napper

  • not through his mama's boy phase yet, but hopefully soon

Splish! Splash!

Pictures and More Pictures

Just a few pics from over the weekend...

James lounging :)

We all wore our Cardinals shirst on Saturday in honor of Pujols returning from the DL.

James likes to look out the window...in case you couldn't tell.

An arm-around

James picking up blocks with both hands!!

The boys in their pj tops.

James crawling through his new tunnel (this has been a great way to encourage him to crawl the right way, as opposed to with his head on the ground).

Visitors

My sister and part of her family came to visit. We all had a wonderful time. The grown-ups played lots of games, the kids just played lots, and we all ate a lot of great food. Dave and I were able to get just about every Cajun food you can think of into their bellies (etoufee, pistolettes, gumbo, crabs, crawfish, shrimp, red beans and rice, boudin, poor boys, drive thru daquiris, crab cakes ... we missed cracklin). We even made a trip to the gulf and a trip over to Orange, Texas where we all tried Whataburger for the first time (the food reminded us of Burger King). Basically, we all just had a good time and enjoyed each other's company. Here are a few pics of all the fun :)
